Citrix Adds IT Management to ‘GoTo’ Line

Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems, announced on Wednesday the acquisition of Paglo, a remote support service provider. The purchase signals Citrix Online’s entrance into the IT management sector. Citrix Online has relaunched the Paglo service as GoToManage. That service is an integrated Web-based platform for monitoring, controlling and supporting attended or unattended IT infrastructure anywhere. The launch of the new service enables Citrix to meet accelerating demand from the SaaS-based IT management market, according to Citrix’s Elizabeth Cholawsky.

In our industry, we live on innovation, and innovation takes capital — something that has been in short supply over the last couple of years. Venture funding took a massive hit in 2009, but there are signs that the trend might be bottoming out. If it is, we might all learn to exhale again. According to an article at BloggingStocks.com, a recent report “… from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association pegs total investment in startups for the fourth quarter of 2009 at $5.02 billion, a decline of 2 percent from the third quarter.

Apple: Stock in the Clouds, One Toe Still in the Gutter

Apple stock closed at $197.05 Tuesday, down $3.37 after a five-day rally that saw it hit $203.08 Friday. However, that slide was part of an overall market phenomenon. On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 100 points and the NASDAQ composite index lost about 29 points as consumer confidence took a tumble. Major retailers indicated that sales growth is lagging, and economic reports remain mixed. The question for Apple investors is, what’s going to happen to Apple’s share prices?
