In today’s world, a Web site is a must-have for any successful business. But if it’s not meeting the customers’ needs, it can also be the kiss of death. “The immediacy of the Web can be both good and bad,” said Chris Edwards, chief operations officer with Creata Vivendi, a marketing, public-relations and consulting company in Conewago Township, York County, Pa. If it’s up to date, easy to navigate, interactive and visually appealing, a Web site can be a valuable tool in providing customer service, he said. If not, it could lead to the loss of business.

Jobs Rumor Monger May Have to Answer to SEC

A report posted on the citizen journalism section of CNN’s Web site Friday morning claimed that Apple CEO Steve Jobs had been rushed to the hospital with a heart attack. The reporter cited an anonymous but “quite reliable” source who supposedly said paramedics were summoned after Jobs complained of severe pain and shortness of breath. “I haven’t seen this anywhere else yet, and as of right now I have no further information, so I thought this would be a good place to start,” the citizen journalist wrote.

Senator Raises Red Flag Over Google-Yahoo Ad Deal

Of all the protests mounted against the pending ad partnership between Google and Yahoo, the one lodged by Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., is bound to be among the most worrisome. Kohl, who oversees the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee, has asked the Justice Department to continue to monitor the competitive landscape of the online advertising industry no matter what its initial findings on this particular deal might be. “If, over time, you determine that Google is gaining a dominant market position … then we would encourage the Justice Department to intervene. …”
