Schwarzenegger for President?

Monday, October 6th, 2008

After watching the first presidential debate, one person on that stage clearly showcased the leadership, focus and bipartisan attitude the U.S. needs to turn itself around. Unfortunately, Jim Lehrer isn’t actually running, so it didn’t help my own decision process much, and I remain decisively undecided at the moment. In watching the bailout last week, it became clear that tech is clearly at risk, and I was struck by the reality that were the U.S. a company, the CEO, CFO and chairman of the board (Speaker of the House) would likely have all been, and should have been, fired.

Verizon Opens Wallet to Settle Raft of Early Termination Lawsuits

Friday, July 11th, 2008

While Verizon has not admitted any wrongdoing in the case, the multi-million dollar settlement covers not only a California-based class action lawsuit but a variety of cases pending across the country as well. The decision comes against the backdrop of the recent FCC hearings held in June, as the government agency and Congress examine the fees customers must pay when they cancel a wireless phone contract before it expires.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

The high school senior can text without looking, sending messages on her red Samsung “slider” while it’s behind her back, in her purse or under her desk at school, where cell phones are banned. So why not do it while driving? Well, now the law. A state rule now in effect prohibits 16- and 17-year-olds from using any device to talk or text while driving, except in an emergency. A companion law allows adults to continue chatting away, but says they must use a hands-free device while driving.
