Schwarzenegger for President?

Monday, October 6th, 2008

After watching the first presidential debate, one person on that stage clearly showcased the leadership, focus and bipartisan attitude the U.S. needs to turn itself around. Unfortunately, Jim Lehrer isn’t actually running, so it didn’t help my own decision process much, and I remain decisively undecided at the moment. In watching the bailout last week, it became clear that tech is clearly at risk, and I was struck by the reality that were the U.S. a company, the CEO, CFO and chairman of the board (Speaker of the House) would likely have all been, and should have been, fired.

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

The chief executive of NebuAd, whose Web-tracking technology raised a privacy backlash, has left the company to be chief financial officer at Verifone Holdings, a maker of payment processing equipment. Verifone said late Tuesday that Robert Dykes will become senior vice president, effective immediately. He will become CFO after the company files its financial report for the latest quarter. Chapter 2 in Yahoo’s Summer of Drama

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Yahoo is starting its first full week with an updated board of directors and a fresh outlook for the future. Former Viacom CEO Frank Biondi Jr. and former Nextel CEO John Chapple — both recommended by outspoken shareholder-turned-board-member Carl Icahn — were officially appointed to leadership roles Thursday. Now, the company will try to find the path away from public battles and into success. Icahn, for his part, has yet to reveal a formal plan to turn the company around. He initially promised a “quick sale” to Microsoft, but that notion is looking less and less likely.
